Sometimes it's nice to get out of the city for a while. When the traffic noise, and sirens get to be too much, it is good to unwind and get back to nature. If you're looking for a one-tank trip full of adventure, then gas up and head on over to Vasquez Rocks. This beautiful park is only a forty-minute drive outside of Los Angeles and boasts some of the most breathtaking rock formations and views.

The Vasquez rocks are in Agua Dulce, a small town near Santa Clarita. While these towns are technically in Los Angeles County, they feel as though they are worlds away. The clean air, the silence, and the overall calm are a good remedy for anyone suffering from the city blues.

The interesting formations of the rocks are due to several years of erosion and earthquakes. Because of their unique shape, the Vasquez Rocks have attracted countless film crews. The Vasquez Rocks acted as the backdrop to Captain Kirk and a lizard man in the Star Trek episode "Arena." The rocks became the real-life Bedrock in the live action Flintstones movie staring John Goodman. Not to mention the countless westerns that used the Vasquez Rocks as their location for final showdowns.

If you're looking for some beautiful scenery, with Hollywood history attached, then head on over to the Vasquez Rocks for a day of sun and relaxation. Los Angeles will still be there when you get back, chaotic as ever.
