When you think of Key West, you probably think of chilling on the beach, soaking in the sun, and Jimmy Buffet. But there's a lot more to the United States' southernmost city than meets the eye. Key West, Florida is choc full of history. Being so isolated from the rest of the country, it's easy to forget you're still in the United States. One of the most interesting places to check off your to do list the next time you're in Key West is the world-famous Hemingway House.

Located at 907 Whitehead Street, across from the world famous Key West lighthouse, this beautiful home was named a Historic Landmark in 1968. Hemingway lived here from 1931 to 1939 and was actively working on several novels during his stay. The Hemingways were fond of cats and the seven- and six-toed descendants of Ernest Hemingway's cats still walk throughout the home greeting visitors.
One of the most notable points of interest in this home is the giant pool in the back. This pool was where Hemingway did a lot of work and would entertain guests with parties. You can also visit Hemingway's private study and even see his original typewriter! Something about being in a place where so much literature was created really gives you a feeling of awe.
So if you're looking for something a little different to do in Key West, look no further than the historic Hemingway house... then make Hemingway proud with a couple drinks on the beach!
