It seems in recent years that the "speakeasy"-style bar has come roaring back. Secret passwords and low lights are staples of these late-night destinations for tourists and locals alike. It can be a little overwhelming figuring out which door is worth knocking on, so here are a few to look for...

No Vacancy - Hollywood, California

When entering No Vacancy in the heart of Hollywood, you are given not one but three doors to choose from. Once you figure out which one works, you are greeted by a sultry mistress who explains the rules of the bar. Her bed then retracts and reveals a steep staircase leading down to the main bar area. There you will find an assortment of familiar and exotic cocktails that make you feel like you've been transported back to the Prohibition era. Be sure to get there early as this place fills up quick. Also you won't want to miss the music and burlesque performers who grace the outdoor patio era.

Williams and Graham - Denver, Colorado

The revolving bookcase has been a staple in movies, television shows, and even the Clue board game. You can experience it for yourself at this secret Denver bar. Just go into the bookshop and find the section with all the books about liquor. It will open up and you will be allowed to experience once and for all what it's like to walk through a bookcase and sample some amazing drinks on the inside.

Room 13 - Chicago, Illinois

We can't talk about secret bars without bringing up Chicago. This city was where Al Capone and other gangsters would gather, drink, and "take care of business." This secret bar is password-protected, is situated in an alley way, and is actually exclusive only to members. You can apply for membership at the Old Chicago Inn which houses this speakeasy. Of course, if you are a guest in the hotel, membership is included. The dress code is enforced and if you don't have a jacket they will provide you with one. What better way to experience Chicago than by sipping cocktails in a prohibition-era speakeasy!

Shhh... don't tell anyone! Can you keep our secret?
