The Hard Rock Cafe has grown into an international icon. As of December 2015, there are 191 Hard Rock locations in 59 countries, including 168 cafes, 23 hotels, and 11 casinos. This global brand still manages to attract millions of patrons every year and they're still rocking! It's no secret that the Hard Rock Cafe is home to great food and great memorabilia, but you may be wondering how they did it. How did this chain manage to grow into the cultural phenomenon it is today?

The first Hard Rock Cafe opened in London in June of 1971 by founders Peter Morton and Isaac Tigrett. This first cafe was nothing like the franchises of today. It did not contain any rock memorabilia and was more of an eclectic eatery.. However, in 1979 Eric Clapton asked the management of the London cafe if they could put his red fender hanging above his usual table to mark his "usual spot." Management was happy to oblige and Clapton's move was quickly repeated by other rockers of the day like Pete Townsend of The Who who wrote on his guitar, "Mine's as good as his. Love, Pete." Over the years, the Hard Rock Cafe has become famous for its use of memorabilia as a way to capture the imagination of the old and young. New generations of musicians have followed in the hard rocking footsteps of their predecessors, creating an ongoing tradition in the rock community.

In 1982, the chain expanded, and opened restaurants in Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Paris and Berlin. It has since expanded into a globally recognized chain and one that is continuing to grow. If you want a place where you can eat, drink, and feel like a rock star, then look no further!
